What is Hoops Family Investments?

Our Story
Hoops Family took the long route to Milton, WV, but ended up here in 1998 as in the previous 24 years we had moved 14 times and we finally found the place we call home and have put down roots here for the past 27 years. We are proud of our community and thrilled God has provided us the resources to invest and try to leave it a little better than it was when we arrived here.
While our roots historically were in coal, our hearts are in Milton and in West Virginia as we all love this State and love being able to raise our kids in a great environment that puts God, Family and Country first. We are excited about the future in this area with Toyota continually expanding, NUCOR investing billions in this area, all that is underway at Marshall University and Marshall Health as we are happy to play a small part in what is shaping up to be an amazing future.

Our Investment Approach
Strategic
Historically we have looked for vertical and horizontal integration opportunities, but recently have expanded into niche opportunities we have identified such as the Grand Patrician Resort in Milton, WV and The Depot, truck stop and commercial development in Scott Depot, WV.
Partnerships
God has placed an amazing group of young, intelligent hardworking young people in our path over the years with unique capabilities in a variety of fields allowing us to provide capital, insight and financial services to their companies while allowing them to focus on what they do best.
Long Term Perspective
Unlike private equity that invest and is looking for an exit in 3-5 years, we are in it for the long term as our goal is to work with our partners and key managers to build lasting growing businesses that generate cash and terrific returns for all parties for generations, not for 3-5 years.

I spend 15-20 hours per week reading and trying to learn about the latest technologies available to assist our businesses. Continuous improvement is required to create long term success.
